Aside from Star Wars, perhaps the most notable Sci-Fi absentees from the Blu-ray format are the Alien films. However, all that is scheduled to change come the holiday season, it would seem.
20th Century Fox have circulated a promotional flyer featuring H.R.Giger's iconic Xenomorph figure, which states "Alien Anthology Coming to Blu-ray Christmas 2010." Now there's a box-set you'd want jumping out of your stocking.
The name of the set has also led to added speculation, with the interesting use of the term "Anthology", rather than "Quadrilogy", which has adorned the DVD box-set releases of recent years. Some have gone as far as to suggest that the set will not only feature Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, but also the two Alien vs Predator films that have already seen a Blu-ray release. Can't win 'em all, I guess.
